CES was also great for making new relationships. Watch out for a new product line to be announced at MacWorld! These guys (and their 1,500 factory workers) are going to help us build a brand new line of kinda hard, kinda soft cases.
Wow! CES was so fun. It was great seeing so many old customers, distributors, and consumers from my Speck days. Our little bitty 10 x 10 booth was absolutely packed with folks checking out the new Bubble Shell hard case line.

It's the end of the year and the end of our 1st month of selling Hard Candy Cases. A great month! We just signed up our furthest away distributor - South Africa - Emia Distribution. Very Cool!
Another great way to end the year is by getting ready for the 2010 Bike racing season. I'm psyched to race with Taleo Racing this year and expect to do a little Shack and Bake action with team mate Dufour!
Welcome to Hard Candy Cases new home in Danville, California! We are proud to show off our new headquarters! What would a day at work be without some color? Did we mention we are a real company? =)
We’ve been really busy since launching the company a few weeks ago; I’ve been all around San Francisco taking meetings with retailers - of which I will expand on in the next few weeks. Today, I’m didn’t plan any meetings so I can focus on the task at hand – moving into our new office! We were able to get an awesome office in Danville, and are moving all of our computers (luckily, I have a very easy to move MacBook 13”) and office furniture into the new space. My Wife, Lea, is thrilled that we've finally moved out of the Pool house.
We got the Landlord to repaint the entire space and its looks awesome. It's a big space (4,000sqft), but we need room to grow and room for our bi-weekly Spin classes!
To begin with, I’m Tim Hickman, I started the company hoping to make a mark in the netbook accessories world. I noticed the amount of netbooks flooding the marketplace and saw that it was increasing exponentially (check out DigiTimes or you can just google netbooks sales 2009), and realized that there were no accessories out there to protect them. Coming from Speck Products (and from personal experience), throwing around your small mobile device, whether cell phone or iPod, is not uncommon. I felt that people really would like to personalize and protect their computer investment, and thus, the idea for Hard Candy Cases was born! With the help of several investors (who I will introduce along the way), I’m also working with some of my former Speck colleagues to build Hard Candy Cases, expanding our product line and designing some really unique cases that are stylish and functional.
Welcome to the first Hard Candy Cases blog! We’re hoping to refresh this blog pretty regularly, not just with product news and behind the scenes details about HCC, but we also hope to give you an idea of who we are as a company and as individuals. As we continue this blog, I will be sharing a bit about the “cast of characters” that makes up Hard Candy Cases, and you will see a lot of us contributing as well.
We hope you continue checking up on us from time to time to learn more about the lifestyle of the company. We certainly don’t want to bore you talking about how great we are – hopefully you’ll figure that out on your own - and there are so many topics out there outside of computer accessories that we have passion for, so if you didn’t like one entry – come back and try us again. If you have any suggestions or questions, let us know – we’ll chat about just about anything, and we’d love to get to know you too.
