Behind the Scenes - iPad Case Factory Tour

What does it take to launch an iPad case line? Let's try four weeks of sleepless nights, shipping our CEO and head designer off to China, convincing 1,200 factory workers to work through Chinese New Year, a specially chartered 747 to fly all of those cases back to the U.S. That should do it!

Still Rolling Out the iPad Cases

More prototypes arrived in the office today! The new Sleek Skin colors look fantastic! Check out the blue, which is more of a transparent baby blue. Definitely a fun color for blinging out your iPad. We're happy with this color, and it's a good thing because making these colors is not an easy or hazard-free task (just ask Tim about all of the fumes he sat through while watching the dying process)!

iPad Case Delivery!

We're shipping out the Bubble Sleeve iPad cases now!

The first Bubble Sleeve iPad Case deliveries are coming, and we're really happy the UPS guy is so friendly! If you pre-ordered your iPad case, keep a lookout for that brown truck. The Bubble Sleeve will be one of the first iPad cases available to consumers. More of our iPad cases are coming very very soon!

The Real Deal

Samples of the Street Skin iPad case arrived from China yesterday! Even if you don't know about all of the thousands of work-hours and dollars that went into making these things a reality, they're amazing! We're looking forward to getting the Street Skin shipping this week. The black case truly looks rugged, and we're thinking of getting an iPad for the office, just to show off this case! Keep checking our website for updates on our new products.

 

Got Prototypes?

We do! The Street Skin prototype, which caused such a stir at MacWorld 2010, is almost a reality! Tim brought back actual production models for review in tons of fun colors.

It's actually quite a complicated design and production process to work with TPU rubber to create the form, translucency and color that you see in the photo. The Street Skin is going to be awesome!

Bubblicious Pink

Yes, it's real! The Bubble Sleeve colors are flying off of the assembly line, and it's truly amazing how quickly these cases are being produced. Just look at all of those bubbles! We're sure these pink cases are going to be a hit...

 

We just got back from China and our factories are rocking it out! The Bubble Sleeve is just awesome! The factory is first class and the works are really happy folks. Especially this guy who's introducing me to Chinese white wine!

Just as exciting as our debut in India is the stir we're creating in Mexico. Check out our Bubble Shell in the Santa Fe iShop and other south-of-the-border outlets. If you can't find us in your country, we hope that you will very soon!
